Welcome

Everyday, I wish my eyes took photographs and my brain remembered more. This family of five have chosen to take some time out and travel around South America. Jobs have been stopped, backpacks have been purchased, malaria tablets have been secured, school has been put on hold and we are off… having the adventure of a lifetime. This trip will take us from London to Miami and then onto Ecuador, Peru, Chile, Argentina and Brazil. Oh and there may be a quick trip to Australia too, but that’s a different story.

Just so the blog archives make sense, you’ll see we lived in Qatar for a while – a very different environment to where we grew up in the UK. We saw a lot of differences between the two – some good, some bad, some just different. It’s a country trying to skip centuries – sometimes it’s successful and sometimes it’s clear it has not yet learned to walk. Qatar was good while it lasted and in particular the friends we made along the way – it/they will continue to be part of our journey.

As one of our goals is to one day be that wise old couple sharing our life stories with a captive audience, I write this blog in the hope that it will help capture the little things we notice, help us research the things we see and most importantly act as a memory bank of our life.

No offence is intended in the writing of WestwardFive – we are just writing notes about what we see, as we see it.
